FIEKE VAN DEN HURK
music producer & engineer
music producer & engineer
and I am a recording engineer, mixing engineer, music producer, accordion player (a multi-instrumentalist really) and a composer. That's a whole lot, but it makes me versatile and flexible in any music creation process.
I started out my career at Wisseloord Studios in The Netherlands, where I worked as an assistant to various great engineers, with artists like Ozark Henry, Ilse DeLange, Gotthard and Fuse. For a couple of years I combined that with working at Reyn Ouwehands "The Church", engineering for artists such as Qeaux Qeaux Joans and Anna Rune.
In 2014 I built my own studio and called it “Dearworld Studio”. The studio houses an eccentric range of instruments and microphones I collected over the years. It grew to be a magical hideaway and musical playground, idyllically located in the Dutch countryside. Its atmosphere is widely praised. I still happily work here as an independent music producer and songwriter - and love to invite other artists and engineers to make use of my space. Recent artists I've been involved with include the all wonderful: Eivør, RHIANNIN, Katja Moslehner, Nanna Barslev, Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, Emilie Lorentzen, Myrkur, Beryl Anne, Greener Grass, Tvinna and Jyoti Verhoeff.
Dearworld Studio is, above all, an inspiring place with a lovely vibe. But it is equally professional and fully equipped, and sound-proofed with carefully measured acoustics. I built the studio together with my father and designed its interior myself, which means I know every tiny corner of it.
The studio feels like a secret magical hideaway, a musical playground - comfortable and cozy but with the high standards I learnt to appreciate at Wisseloord. All instruments and microphones are close by and can be put to use in a blink, so you don’t loose the heat of the moment or that spark of inspiration. You can try out anything in my collection of both vintage and modern instruments and effects - and experiment with them without wasting time fiddling with cables, for I like to run a tight and organised ship.
Aside from the studio spaces, there’s a lovely kitchen and living-room to chill or do some last-minute editing or composing, and a gorgeous view of the forest across the street.
You can now also rent the studio to play and record in all by yourself. Or bring your own engineer or producer. Use all the gear and instruments and quiet space for only €180 per day! Contact me for more details.
Do you want to work with me? Or just rent my gorgeous studio space? Or maybe you have a question first? Want to play me your music? Visit my studio? I’m ever so curious to meet you and give you a tour. Don’t hesitate and call me or write me today.
