Hanneke de Jong describes herself as theatre maker, singer-songwriter, wakeful sleeper. “When I lie awake and my mind overflows, I get up and write songs. In the dark, many things come to light: thoughts, memories, longings, hidden truths. Night changes the way I see.” Hanneke allied with friend and producer Marielle Woltring (artistname Lavalu). They worked on this album with no less than thirteen musicians.
Once it was time to release the album, Hanneke chose to share it with the same care with which it was created. She came up with the marvelous idea of a wandering notebook. On the darkest day of the year, it wandered out into the world, together with the songs. Six months later, it returned — filled with words, sentences and snippets of stories from listeners. The return of the notebooks was celebrated with a one-off release concert on a very beautiful location - where the audience could read and listen to all that was written during the journey of the notebooks.
But now all songs are available on Bandcamp, with only one single available on the regular streaming platforms.
