Night Stories & Daydreams
For six months Hanneke will share her night stories and daydreams with you, each in the form of a song. Together with thirteen musicians (and one in particular) she made them with great care and affection. She wants to release them in a way that matches that attention.
Hanneke de Jong describes herself as theatre maker, singer-songwriter, wakeful sleeper. “When I lie awake and my mind overflows, I get up and write songs. In the dark, many things come to light: thoughts, memories, longings, hidden truths. Night changes the way I see.”

A notebook as an invitation…
Hanneke created a notebook, and for six months the songs will travel hand to hand through the city. On the darkest day of the year — 21 December 2025 — it set out into the world. It is meant as an invitation to add something of yourself: a word, a sentence, a thought, a memory. A daydream or a night story of your own. In that way the songs slowly become partly yours as well.
Afterwards, you may pass the journal to someone with whom you want to share this: a lover, a friend, a neighbour, someone close — or a stranger. But for if the notebook doesn’t find it’s way to you, there is a digital version here.
