A Story We Need

I am excited to share that I’ve been working with Ghaeth Almaghoot and his amazing band of musicians - recording the album “Levantine Hues” at Studio Konkreet in Dordrecht. Soon we’ll start the mixing process.

Ghaeth Almaghoot at Studio Konkreet

For centuries stories have helped us humans to make sense of this life we are living. Myths (both in words and other artforms) tended to our way-too-big brains and could soothe our confusion, touching us both on a conscious and unconscious level - necessary to actually induce change, or to pass on hard learned important knowledge we needed about how to live life as human beings.

There is something very wrong with the stories our current societies like to tell about the world and our place within it these days: the myth of progress, the myth of human separation from nature, the myth of civilisation.

I have come to believe it is the duty of storytellers and culturemakers in a time when the stories we live by have become untenable - to tell the stories we need to hear. Ghaeth is one of those artists, that deeply understands and lives this.

Instead of quoting him here, I wholeheartedly encourage you to read about the story behind his music on his website.
